I was born in Nairobi, Kenya, on the 29th of January, and I was always a curious kid for as long as I remember. I started playing around with technology and writing code from very early on. I was hacking mobile games at age 10 and I had a short stint collaborating in professional software development gigs at 16 before fully diving into the startup world.
Today, I lead and advise a couple of technology startups based in Africa. My primary focus has been on building products and technologies that support the growth of Africa's informal economy. This cuts across access to jobs/work, payments & financial inclusion, security & insurance for the underserved and SaaS products for small businesses & enterprises.
I am very excited about tackling big challenges, solving hard problems and building products people want and love. Africa's informal economy employs over 80% of the continent's workforce, carries about 90% of all its existing businesses and accounts for over $1 trillion (55%) of Africa's GDP annually. I strongly believe there are several important challenges to solve in the sector and my work over the past few years has been dedicated to finding & building concrete solutions for them.
